Marshmallow’s Hope, a local nonprofit, has received over $1.2 million from the Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board through its Core Programming and Accelerator awards. This funding comes from Winnebago County’s 1/2 cent sales tax dedicated to mental health services.
The grant will support a new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed to help youth facing mental and emotional challenges.
“This grant is a monumental step in expanding our services to meet the critical mental health needs of adolescents in Winnebago County,” said Laura Kane, founder of Marshmallow’s Hope. “We are deeply grateful for the support from the Winnebago County 1/2 cent sales tax for mental health. With this funding, we will create a safe, nurturing space where young people can find the help they need to heal and thrive.”
The IOP will be housed in a dedicated facility, offering a comprehensive approach to mental wellness. It will integrate practices for healing the mind, body, and soul alongside evidence-based therapeutic interventions. The program will provide continuous support and adaptable options as the needs of the children evolve.
