by Kaia

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s volleyball team is taking proactive steps to shine a light on mental health issues. In a noteworthy initiative, Wednesday night’s home game against UW-Platteville was dedicated to mental health awareness for the Blugolds.

The primary objective of this event was to draw attention to the mental challenges faced by students and student-athletes alike. To further this cause, funds were raised through a dedicated fundraiser. These proceeds will be used to disseminate informative flyers about mental health across the campus.

Stacey Jackson, an Associate Professor of Psychology at UW-Eau Claire, emphasized the significance of open discussions on mental health. She expressed, “I think that as we’re able to have more things openly displayed and resources for students to have access to that, that will continue to spark conversation and allow those who really are struggling to get the support and get the help that they need and feel okay to be able to do that.”
