Study Reveals Impact of Israeli Human Rights Violations on Women’s Health in Gaza Strip

by Kaia

A study examining the repercussions of Israeli human rights violations on the physical and mental well-being of women in the Gaza Strip has shed light on the enduring and inter-generational consequences faced by Palestinian women due to Israel’s military presence, blockade, and ongoing military actions.

The women in Gaza have endured a series of persistent human rights violations, resulting in long-term physical and psychological effects that span generations. These effects include feelings of constant threat, injuries inflicted by the Israeli military, the loss of family members, and various restrictions due to the blockade imposed by Israel.

Collaborating with the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP), the study surveyed over 400 women in Gaza. The research, the culmination of a two-year joint project between PHRI and GCMHP, primarily focused on the psychological and physical health of Palestinian women in Gaza. The study underscores a clear correlation between exposure to human rights violations and the development of psychological distress.
