Queens of the Stone Age have announced the cancellation of all remaining 2024 tour dates as frontman Josh Homme continues to focus on his health. The decision comes after Homme’s recent medical issues, which require extended recovery time.
In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the band expressed their regret: “QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year.”
This announcement follows a series of previous cancellations, particularly in Europe, where Homme had to undergo emergency surgery. Although the exact nature of his latest medical procedure has not been disclosed, Homme has been open about his health struggles. Last year, he revealed he had undergone surgery for cancer after a diagnosis in 2022.
The cancelled tour dates include several U.S. performances planned for September through November. Standalone shows in cities like Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Madison have been postponed, while festival appearances in Memphis, Bridgeport, and Mexico City have been called off entirely.
Back in July, the band hinted at the severity of Homme’s condition, sharing that he needed to “return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery.” Despite their efforts to continue the tour, Homme’s health ultimately took precedence. “Every effort was made to push through and play for you,” the band stated, “but it is no longer an option to continue.”
The band had been touring in support of their eighth studio album, In Times New Roman…, which was released in July. This album marked their first in six years, following successful tours across North America, Australia, and Asia earlier this year.
As of now, Queens of the Stone Age have not announced any rescheduled dates for the cancelled shows. However, they have expressed deep appreciation for the support and understanding from their fans during this challenging period.
