Sen. Natalie Murdock on Improving Maternal Health and the New Energy of NC Democrats

by Kaia

The North Carolina General Assembly has largely completed its planned agenda for 2024, but some significant issues remain unresolved. One of the most pressing is maternal health, a longstanding problem in North Carolina, particularly affecting mothers of color.

Senator Natalie Murdock of Durham and Chatham Counties has been advocating for increased funding to address this issue. Despite her efforts, Republican leaders have repeatedly blocked her proposals. Murdock remains determined to push for solutions and continues to voice concerns about the controversial funding directed towards crisis pregnancy centers by GOP lawmakers.

While this change is energizing many, Murdock emphasized that the outcome of the fall election will likely hinge on which side can effectively mobilize voters in the coming weeks.
